Terms of Service for SantoHost.com

Last updated: November 20, 2025

Hosting Services, Acceptable Use, and Customer Responsibilities

SantoHost provides website hosting, related technical services, and optional website migration or support services. By using our hosting services, you agree to use the service responsibly, legally, and in a way that does not harm SantoHost, our infrastructure, other customers, or the public internet.

  1. Acceptable Use Policy

You may not use SantoHost services for unlawful, abusive, deceptive, or harmful activity. Prohibited uses include, but are not limited to:

  • Sending spam, unsolicited bulk email, phishing messages, or fraudulent communications.
  • Hosting malware, viruses, credential theft pages, phishing pages, botnets, or malicious scripts.
  • Hosting or distributing illegal content.
  • Attempting to gain unauthorized access to systems, networks, accounts, or data.
  • Running denial-of-service attacks, port scanning, vulnerability scanning against third parties without authorization, or other abusive network activity.
  • Hosting file-sharing, torrents, warez, pirated software, or copyright-infringing material.
  • Using hosting accounts primarily for backup storage, file storage, media archives, software mirrors, or other non-website storage.
  • Reselling, sublicensing, or providing hosting to third parties unless your plan or written agreement allows it.
  • Excessive automated traffic, scraping, bots, cron jobs, or background processes that degrade server performance or reliability.

We reserve the right to investigate, limit, suspend, or terminate services that violate this policy or create security, legal, performance, or abuse concerns.

  1. Resource Usage and Fair Use

Some SantoHost plans may include unlimited storage, unlimited bandwidth, or similar plan features. “Unlimited” means that we do not impose fixed disk-space or data-transfer caps for normal website operation on that plan.

Unlimited hosting is intended only for operating a legitimate website, not for non-website storage, backups, file archives, video libraries, bulk downloads, software distribution, or file sharing.

We may contact you or take corrective action if your account uses excessive CPU, memory, disk I/O, database resources, inode counts, email resources, network resources, or other shared-server resources in a way that negatively affects server stability, security, deliverability, or other customers. Corrective action may include optimization requests, temporary limits, account isolation, migration to a more appropriate plan, suspension, or termination.

Our goal is not to penalize successful websites. Our goal is to prevent abuse, protect server performance, and keep hosting reliable for all customers.

  1. Email and Spam Policy

SantoHost prohibits using hosting accounts to send spam, unsolicited bulk email, phishing messages, purchased email lists, scraped email lists, or deceptive commercial email.

Customers are responsible for all email sent from their accounts, websites, scripts, plugins, forms, and compromised accounts. If your website or email account is used to send spam or harmful messages, we may suspend mail service, disable affected scripts, reset passwords, require cleanup, or suspend the hosting account.

Transactional email from legitimate websites is allowed, but high-volume marketing email should be sent through a reputable third-party email marketing or transactional email provider.

  1. Backups and Customer Responsibility

SantoHost may provide backups as a courtesy or as part of specific hosting plans, but backups are not a substitute for your own independent backups. You are responsible for maintaining current copies of your website files, databases, email, and other important data.

We will make reasonable efforts to restore data when backups are available, but we do not guarantee that any backup will be available, complete, current, or restorable. SantoHost is not responsible for lost data, lost revenue, business interruption, or other damages resulting from data loss, backup failure, software failure, customer error, malware, compromised credentials, or third-party service failure.

  1. Malware, Compromised Sites, and Security Issues

If we detect malware, phishing, spam scripts, compromised files, vulnerable software, or other security risks on your account, we may take action to protect the server, network, customers, visitors, and SantoHost reputation.

This may include disabling affected files, disabling plugins or scripts, suspending the account, resetting credentials, blocking traffic, requiring cleanup, or recommending a paid cleanup or migration service.

Customers are responsible for keeping their websites, themes, plugins, applications, passwords, and administrative accounts secure and up to date. SantoHost may assist with security issues, but we are not responsible for vulnerabilities introduced by customer-installed software, third-party plugins, weak passwords, abandoned websites, or compromised administrator accounts.

  1. Refunds and Money-Back Guarantee

SantoHost may offer a 30-day money-back guarantee on eligible hosting plans. Unless stated otherwise in writing, the money-back guarantee applies only to standard hosting fees paid directly to SantoHost for the initial hosting term.

The money-back guarantee does not apply to domain registrations, domain renewals, domain transfers, SSL certificates, third-party licenses, paid migrations, custom development, malware cleanup, consulting, setup fees, administrative fees, overage fees, or other non-hosting services.

Refunds are not available for accounts terminated or suspended for abuse, spam, fraud, chargebacks, illegal activity, policy violations, or violation of these Terms.

Renewal payments, late cancellation requests, and prepaid terms after the initial guarantee period are generally non-refundable unless SantoHost agrees otherwise in writing.

  1. Domain Registration and Third-Party Services

Third-party registrars or service providers provide domain registrations, renewals, transfers, and related domain services. Domain fees are generally non-refundable once submitted because domain transactions are processed through third-party registry systems.

You are responsible for ensuring that domain contact information, spelling, registration details, DNS records, and renewal settings are accurate. SantoHost is not responsible for domain loss, expiration, registry errors, incorrect WHOIS/contact information, failed renewals due to payment issues, or customer failure to respond to domain verification requests.

Third-party services such as registrars, control panels, SSL providers, CDN providers, email providers, payment processors, and software vendors may have their own terms, policies, limitations, and outages. SantoHost is not responsible for third-party service failures outside our direct control.

  1. Suspension and Termination

We may suspend, restrict, or terminate services if:

  • Payment is overdue.
  • The account violates these Terms or our Acceptable Use Policy.
  • The account creates security, abuse, legal, spam, malware, resource, or network concerns.
  • The account is involved in fraud, chargebacks, or unauthorized use.
  • Continued service may harm SantoHost, our infrastructure, our reputation, other customers, or third parties.

When reasonable, we will attempt to notify you and provide an opportunity to correct the issue. However, we may act immediately and without prior notice in urgent situations involving abuse, malware, spam, phishing, legal risk, security threats, or server stability.

  1. Support Scope

SantoHost support is intended to help with hosting-related issues, account access, server configuration within our control, DNS guidance, SSL, migrations, performance basics, and general website hosting problems.

Unless included in your plan or agreed upon separately, standard hosting support does not include custom website development, custom coding, advanced debugging of third-party plugins or themes, content edits, SEO services, graphic design, extensive malware cleanup, application rewrites, or support for software hosted outside SantoHost.

We may provide guidance or best-effort assistance for third-party software, but we cannot guarantee fixes for software, plugins, themes, services, or integrations we did not create.

  1. Uptime and Service Availability

SantoHost works to provide fast and reliable hosting, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service unless a separate written Service Level Agreement applies.

Service may be interrupted by maintenance, updates, hardware failure, software failure, network issues, DNS issues, cyberattacks, abuse mitigation, third-party provider outages, customer configuration errors, force majeure events, or other circumstances outside our reasonable control.

Unless a separate written agreement specifically states otherwise, SantoHost does not provide financial credits, penalties, or service-level compensation for downtime.

  1. Limitation of Liability and Data Loss

To the maximum extent permitted by law, SantoHost is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, including lost profits, lost revenue, lost business, loss of goodwill, loss of data, business interruption, or costs of substitute services.

Your use of the services is at your own risk. Although SantoHost routinely backs up website data, you are responsible for maintaining backups, securing credentials, keeping software updated, and verifying that your website and services function as expected.

  1. Website Migrations

SantoHost may offer free or paid website migration assistance. Migrations are performed on a best-effort basis and depend on the quality, compatibility, and accessibility of the source website, source hosting account, backups, DNS, email configuration, and third-party services.

You are responsible for providing accurate login credentials, domain access, DNS access, registrar access, control panel access, and any other information required to complete the migration.

We are not responsible for issues caused by the previous host, corrupted backups, missing files, incompatible software, outdated plugins or themes, custom server configurations, DNS propagation, email client settings, third-party integrations, or customer changes made during the migration process.

Unless specifically included in writing, migrations exclude redesign, redevelopment, SEO repair, malware cleanup, content editing, custom coding, and fixing pre-existing website issues.

  1. Changes to Hosting Plans and Policies

We may update hosting features, software, limits, policies, pricing, or plan names from time to time. We will notify existing customers when changes materially affect their service, billing, or account requirements.

Fair Use Policy

1. The Meaning of “Unlimited”

Our Unlimited WordPress Hosting plans are designed to provide peace of mind for standard business, personal, blog, and e-commerce websites. We do not enforce fixed, hard boundaries on disk space, data transfer, or standard server processes. This means your site can grow naturally without unexpected overage fees or abrupt resource cutoffs.

2. The Statistical Fair Use Threshold

To ensure a single account does not negatively impact the performance of our shared hosting infrastructure, all unlimited accounts are subject to a Fair Use Threshold.

  • How We Measure Fair Use: We continuously calculate the rolling mathematical average of server resources (including disk space, bandwidth, and database footprint) consumed across our entire WordPress user base.
  • The Outlier Limit: Any individual website that consumes more than 200% of the statistical average of our typical user base will be flagged by our automated systems for manual review.

3. Prohibited Activities on Unlimited Plans

The phrase “Unlimited Storage and Bandwidth” applies explicitly to operational WordPress website files, active themes, necessary plugins, and live content. The following use cases do not represent typical website operations and are strictly prohibited on unlimited plans:

  • Using the hosting account as a personal file storage repository, cloud backup drive, or file-sharing hub.
  • Storing large, historical backup archives (such as zip files or tarballs) generated by WordPress backup plugins.
  • Hosting mass video libraries, raw photography archives, or streaming media files directly on our servers instead of utilizing dedicated content delivery networks (CDNs) or video streaming platforms.

4. Remediation and Account Care

If your website crosses the 200% Fair Use threshold, we will never abruptly shut down your website without cause. Our priority is to help you optimize your WordPress ecosystem. Our engineering team will step in to check for the following:

  1. Massive database bloat or uncleaned spam comments.
  2. Malfunctioning or looping WordPress plugins.
  3. Uncompressed media or unlinked asset folders.

If high-volume legitimate traffic causes resource strain, our team will help transition your account to a dedicated or scalable VPS suited to your traffic level.
